Kin seek CBI probe into killing
The Bahujan Samaj Party has strongly condemned the murder of Sarvesh Singh Seepu and his friend and has said that this was another example of the “jungle raj” prevailing in the state. The family of the slain leader has demanded a CBI probe into the incident. The former MLA’s brother Santosh said that the police was trying to divert investigations in order to give a clean chit to the main conspirator. At a hurriedly convened press conference here on Friday, Mr Swami Prasad Maurya, the Leader of the Opposition, said that the SP government was responsible for the murder since it had withdrawn the security cover provided to Seepu even though he faced a threat from his rivals. “The Samajwadi government is not serious on the law and order issue and the killing of an elected representative amounts to murder of democracy,” he said and demanded an inquiry into police firing in Azamgarh. Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav termed the incident as “unfortunate” and said that the culprits will be arrested at the earliest.
