1 killed, 3 hurt in road mishap
A 35-year-old killed and three others, allegedly drunk, were injured when their speeding SUV rammed into a road divider in Tuglak road area under New Delhi district. Prima facie, the doctors have revealed that three out of the four persons in the car were under the influence of alcohol, the police said. Rukam Singh, a resident of Burari, was declared brought dead by the doctors, while Narendra Multani, 42, a resident of Mumbai, Kamal Narang, 39, a Pashchim Vihar resident and Sukhjeet Inderjeet, 40, a resident of Bahdurgadh, are undergoing treatment. The incident took place on late Tuesday night at around 12.05 am on Rajesh Pilot Marg, Prithvi Raj Road red light. The driver was ferrying three executives of an advertising company to west Delhi after dinner when the incident took place. Overspeeding was said to be cause of the incident. The police rushed to the spot and rescued three victims from the car and took them to RML hospital, where Rukam Singh was declared brought dead. “Chand lost control of the SUV while trying to negotiate a turn. The vehicle first hit the divider and turned turtle,” a police official said. The front bumper of the vehicle was lying near the dividers. The dividers on both sides of the road had also been damaged. It was later learnt that a passerby had already taken one of the victims to a nearby hospital. “A case under Sections 279/337/304A (rash driving or riding on a public way, causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others and causing death by negligence) of the IPC has been registered in the Tuglak Road police station against the driver of the car,” said the official.
