Drunk doc rams bikes, 1 dead
A 27-year-old drunk doctor was arrested for killing one person and injuring four others by ramming his car into two motorcycles, the police said on Thursday. The incident happened late Wednesday night in Dabri area of southwest Delhi. Five persons, identified as Gauri Shankar, Ajit, Dharam Prakash, Lekhraj and Dinesh, were plying on a motorcycle when they were hit by the car. They were rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital where Gauri Shankar was declared dead on arrival, an official said. The incident happened at around 1 am on Thursday. According to the sources, Gaurishankar was on his way to Dwarka with his friend Ajeet Kumar Jha on a motorcycle when a tire of their bike punctured near Vijay Enclave red light. They got down to fix the tyre, when a speeding Swift car coming from Dabri hit their motorcycle. Another motorcycle passing by the same road also got hit in the incident and Dharam Prakash, Lekhraj and Dinesh got critically injured in the incident. According to the police, Ashwani was under the influence of alcohol when his car rammed into two motorcycles. “A case under sections of rash driving and death due to negligence have been filed in the Dabri police station. Further investigations are underway,” said the official.
