Samsung launches the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8+

Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 and the S8+ yesterday in its Unpacked event held in New York.

The display is also called as the Infinity display by Samsung and is a Super AMOLED one with always-on feature and 16M colours. It is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and the back.

The center button is a pressurized center virtual button which works like the Home button like any normal smartphone.

Bixby Vision will now help buyers identify products by just opening the camera app and pointing at objects and Bixby will provide examples of the same.

Front camera on the S8 is a 8-megapixel unit with f/1.7 and auto-HDR meaning better pictures with superior image quality and in-depth.

The rear camera in the S8 is a 12-megapixel unit with phase detection, Optical Image Stabilization with 4K recording capabilities.

Security is a strong point of the Galaxy S8/S8+ with iris-scanning technology embedded alongside fingerprint scanner, face recognition, pattern, and PIN inputs.

The back encompasses the fingerprint sensor, the 12-megapixel camera, LED Flash, and heart-rate monitor. The back is also encased in Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

DeX: This is DeX which essentially will turn your Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ into a desktop. Any app updated for Nougat will work just fine with the DeX accesory.

The DeX also has a small fan which keeps the S8 cool during a desktop session. Aimed at business customers who require apps on the go, but Samsung is not looking towards replacing the desktop just yet.

The front and the backside both have the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The smartphone is IP68 certified which means the S8 and the S8+ are both water and dust resistant.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ comes in two display sizes, 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch, with both having Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The battery capacities on the S8 and the S8+ are 3000mAh and 3500mAh respectively.

Box accessories include a Fast Charger, earbuds, headphones from AKG, USB-cable, adapters and a pin for the SIM tray.
