Aishwarya edges past Ryhana in ladies race

Bengaluru racer Aishwarya P.M. edged past local girl A. Ryhana Bee to clinch the third round of the all ladies race of the Honda One Make Series at Sriperumbudur near here on Saturday.
In front of a handful of crowd, Aishwarya, who had finished third in the second round, clocked 9.49 minutes over the four laps to grab the top honours, ahead of Ryhana (9.49.56) and Shruthi N. (10.6 mins), both from Chennai, at the Madras Motor race track.
Ryhana, who was close on Aishwarya’s heels throughout, missed the top spot by a fraction of a second to take the second spot.
Pooja Dadhi (10.14) managed a fourth place despite starting from the back of the grid. Pooja, who was leading the championship till Friday, had a crash in the qualifying which hindered her chances of a podium finish.
Said Aishwarya, “This was my fifth race in the season and I am glad to finish first. It’s been a great first season for women racers, with the kind of support and enthusiasm we have received.
“I have taken up racing professionally recently and such top finishes in the early part of your career boost your morale,” added the 21-year old, who aims to compete in the MotoGP in the coming years.
In the men’s category, Soorya P.M. dominated Race 1 of CBR 150R Novice championship with a timing of 9.02.2 minutes while Anish D. Shetty (9.02. 3) and Mahesh Murali M. (9.03.3 minutes) were second and third, respectively.
In CBR 250R Open, Mathana Kumar and Hari Krishnan R. clinched the first two podiums in Race 1. The race was keenly fought between the two, with Trichy’s Mathana eventually finishing on top in 12:20 minutes while local racer Hari was a close second with a timing of 12:22 minutes.
Another Chennai racer Ananth Raj P. clocked 12.32 minutes to follow Mathana and Hari Krishnan to emerge third in the category.
