David Fontaine and Anna Petrokas emerge champions

David Fontaine from France and Australia’s Anna Petrakos emerged winners of the 26th International Himalayan 100 mile stage race that was held in the Darjeeling area of the North-East Himalayan range

David Fontaine from France and Australia’s Anna Petrakos emerged winners of the 26th International Himalayan 100 mile stage race that was held in the Darjeeling area of the North-East Himalayan ranges from October 29.

Runners from 14 countries including Germany, the UK, Austria, the USA, Argentina, Singapore, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain, Ireland, South Africa and Canada took part.

Fontain clocked an overall time of 18 hours and eight minutes for the Sant Nagpal Baba Memorial Gold Award while Petrakos was timed in at 22 hours and 46 minutes.

Among men, the second and third places were won by Stuart Cox from Australia (19:07) and Jas Sanghera from the UK (19: 51).

Finishing behind Petrakos were Fiona McIntosh from South Africa (25:05) and Annette Petzold from Germany (26:35).

The youngest participant was Argentina’s Bianca Spinelli at 14 years and the oldest was Noema Williams from New Zealand (70).
