Green vs Red Duleep game still tantalisingly poised
BENGALURU: The Duleep Trophy game between India Green and India Red was evenly poised at stumps on day three.
The match played at KSCA Grounds at Alur witnessed the accumulation of both wickets and runs on the penultimate day.
To take the first innings honours, Green will need one wicket, whereas Red would be hoping add 37 runs to their overnight total of 404 for nine.
19-year old Mahipal Lomror slammed his third first-class century and Dharamendrasinh Jadeja bagged four wickets.
Jadeja was clobbered by fast-bowler Avesh Khan, who smashed the left-arm spinner for four sixes in one over. Avesh and Sandeep Warrier were in the middle when the stumps were drawn.
It was Lomror’s knock of 126 that guided India Green closer to Red’s first innings total.
After Karun Nair (90) -- who could only add 13 runs to his overnight score — was dismissed, Mahipal along with opener Abhimanyu Easwaran (22 off 66balls) were on course to stitch a crucial partnership but latter fell to Rahul Chahar, caught at slips.
Jadeja got the better of Mahipal when the deficit was still over 70 runs. Akshay Wakhre and Unadkat were sent back to the pavilion in a span of four balls.
