Gautam Gambhir launches drive for poor

The left-hander, who has represented the country in 58 Tests and 147 one-dayers, opened the first community kitchen in the Patel Nagar area.

Cricketer Gautam Gambhir is known for his philanthropist ways. On Tuesday, he took another step forward and launched a campaign to feed the poor free of cost in the capital.

The left-hander, who has represented the country in 58 Tests and 147 one-dayers, opened the first community kitchen in the Patel Nagar area.

Through the Gautam Gambhir Foundation, the KKR skipper said that he “did not want anyone to sleep hungry”.

“Won World Cups, won IPLs, beaten opponents. Now time 2 win hearts & beat hunger. Community Kitchen #1 by Gautam Gambhir Foundation,” tweeted Gambhir.

“Compassion in my heart, a plate in my hand & a prayer on my lips ‘No one should sleep hungry’ #ggf #communitykitchen1,” Gambhir captioned a picture of him while serving a poor man.

The batsman has often been lauded for his patriotism, and has in the past supported the national ice hockey team when they were short on funds to take part in a competition.
