Nepal's Anjali Chand dedicates her world record to her father

Mumbai: Nepal's 25-year-old Anjali Chand is very happy with her history-making performance.

On Monday, while playing against the Maldives women's team in the first South Asian Games Championship at Pokhara, she grabbed 6 wickets (including a hat-trick) in 2.1 overs (13 balls) and didn't concede a run.

Incidentally, she considers her first over being more impressive than the second and third where the hat-trick was split in two overs (2nd and 3rd).

"My first was more impressive because I took three wickets at every alternative ball and they were not the tail end batsmen", she said, speaking exclusively over telephone from Pokhara.

"None of my family members were present because we live in Kathmandu which is more than 200 km away from here (Pokhara). Sadly, my dad (Dhan Bahadur Chand) is not alive today. He died of a severe heart attack two years ago. He took interest in my cricket career. Had he been alive today, he would have certainly been the happiest man in the world. I dedicate my world record to him".

"My elder brother (Ashok Chand) used to play cricket. He is a banker now. He could not come with my mother (Damara) here."

Anjali Chand has not visited India but she hopes to come here one day.

Incidentally, neither Virat Kohli nor Sachin Tendulkar is on her list of favourite cricketers.

"I am a fan of Paras Khadka. He is from Nepal and I like the player of my country more than players of other nations", she further added.

Anjali, however, did go to see Sachin Tendulkar when the Little Master was in Kathmandu recently.

Sachin Tendulkar is a UNICEF ambassador and was engaged in a game of cricket with the Nepal women's team during his stay at Nepal last month.
