Since it’s Virat’s 31st birthday, hence on this occasion, we will be looking at all the records broken and all the runs scored by the modern day legend.

Here below are some of the records that were broken by the right-handed southpaw.

First batsman to score 20,000 international runs in a decade – During the recently concluded 2019 ODI series against West Indies, the 31-year-old cricketer smashed his 43rd ODI ton to become the first batsman in the cricketing world to register 20,000 international runs in a decade.

Quickest batsman to notch 10,000 ODI runs – In 2019, the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli surpassed India’s former Maestro batsman, Sachin Tendulkar, to register 10,000 ODI runs. Kohli achieved the feat in 205 innings, while Tendulkar reached the same milestone in 259 innings.

Fastest to score 1000 runs in a year – During 2019, the number one ODI batsman broke former South African batsman Hashim Amla’s record, to become the fastest batsman to register 1000 ODI runs in a year. Kohli had achieved the feat in 11 innings, while Amla took 15 innings to reach the landmark.

 First batsman to hit three 100s in a row against two different opponents – Kohli remains the only ODI batsman to register three 100s in a row versus West Indies and Sri Lanka respectively. The number two Test batsman had smashed 133*, 108 and 106 against Sri Lanka. While, against the Caribbeans, the right-handed south paw had scored 140, 157* and 107.

Most ODI runs in a year as a captain – In 2017, Virat Kohli smashed 1460 runs in 26 ODIs, surpassing former Australian legend Ricky Ponting, who amassed 1424 runs in 2007.

First captain to score 5 consecutive 50s in the World Cup history – In the recently concluded 2019 World Cup, the Delhi-born batsman scored 82, 77, 67, and 66 against Australia, Pakistan Afghanistan, West and England, respectively to become the first captain to smash five continuous 50s in the history of a World Cup.

Most runs during a single edition of the Indian Premier League – During 2016, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, the cricket legend of the modern era smashed 973 runs, to become the top run-scorer in the single edition of an IPL.
