Mike Hesson applies for position of India head coach: report
Mumbai: Mike Hesson, who has coached the New Zealand national team for six years as well as Indian Premier League’s team Kings XI Punjab for one year, has reportedly applied for the position of India’s head coach. He was in charge of the New Zealand side that had made it to the 2015 ICC World Cup finals. He had resigned from that position in June 2018 and took up the reigns of Kings XI Punjab.
Now, he has resigned from his position as Kings XI Punjab’s head coach after reports of him applying for the position of India’s head coach surfaced. He was associated with the team for the 2019 IPL season. He also had worked as a commentator for Star Sports.
He announced this decision on Twitter. In the tweet, he wrote, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Kings XI franchise and wish to thank them for the season I had in charge. Whilst disappointed not to be able to build on the work we did this year, I’m sure success isn’t too far away for them. I wish them all the best for the future.”
