Lieutenant Colonel MS Dhoni gets a hostile reception in Kashmir; watch video

Dhoni is expected to be in Kashmir till August 15. However, his comeback to the Indian squad is yet to be known.

Mumbai: Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is reportedly expected to hoist the Indian Flag on the occasion of India’s 73rd Independence Day in Leh, the newly-formed union territory of Ladakh.

Dhoni who has been conferred the title of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army, is currently stationed in Khrew in Jammu Kashmir’s Pulwama district along with his other members of his Territorial Army battalion.

On July 30, MS Dhoni had joined the Territorial Army Battalion which is currently deployed in south of Kashmir. On Thursday, the Army officials have stated that MSD and his regiment will be travelling to Leh on August 10.

A senior member of the Army stated, “Dhoni is a brand ambassador of the Indian Army. He has engaged in motivating members of his unit and has often been playing football and volleyball with the soldiers. He is also undertaking battle training exercises with the corps. He will remain in the valley till August 15.”

Dhoni, who currently is with the Paramilitary forces, recently endured a hostile reception in one of trips to Baramullah, especially after the government abrogated Article 370 – which allows special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Recently, just after the government’s decision to abrogate Article 370, a video came out, the video shows Dhoni receiving chants like ‘boom boom Afridi’ while he was training with the Army in Kashmir.

Earlier, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi took to twitter and stated the Indian government’s decision to scrap Article 370 has boosted an “unprovoked aggression” and “crimes” in Kashmir. He also requested the United Nations to intervene in this scenario. Moreover, Afridi has also asked US President Donald Trump to discuss the matter.

However, on Tuesday, former Indian cricketer Gambhir, who had an on-field and twitter feuds, took to twitter and stated that, “There is “unprovoked aggression”, there r “crimes against humanity”. He shud be lauded 👏for bringing this up. Only thing is he forgot to mention that all this is happening in “Pakistan Occupied Kashmir”. Don’t worry, will sort it out son!!!.”

Meanwhile, Dhoni is expected to be in Kashmir till August 15. However, his comeback to the Indian squad is yet to be known. But, recently, several reports have stated that he might get a call for the home series against South Africa in September. India is expected to play three T20Is against the Proteas before facing them in a three-match Test series.
