Left arm seamer Arjun Tendulkar took a four-wicket haul as Mumbai colts bundled out Assam for 109 in 38.4 overs to register innings and 154 runs win in the Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 cricket match at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC on Saturday. The home team wrapped up the four-day game within two days to pick seven points from the match including a bonus point.

Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun, took five-wicket haul at the same venue in the second innings against Madhya Pradesh in the last match. He went wicketless in Assam’s first innings on Friday, but led the bowling attack well in the second essay on Saturday with figures of 4/44 in his 15 overs. Arjun along with Anjdeep Lad (2/26) picked top order wickets.

Tanush Kotian cleaned up the tail in quick time to return with impressive figures of 3/4 in his 4.4 overs.

Assam had folded up for 94 in the first innings courtesy Sidak Singh’s five-wicket haul and Mumbai responded with a big score of 357. Varun Lavande’s 118 in 170 balls helped Mumbai get massive first innings lead of 263 runs in the the four-day match.

Varun, who started the day at 11 not out, went on to complete half century in 57 balls. He shunned his aggression a bit as wickets started tumbling at the other end. The hosts who were 317 for four at one point of time, lost the remaining six wickets for just 40 runs. The dismissal of wicket-keeper batsman Vedant Murkar (22) started the downfall. Murkar shared 80 runs for the fifth wicket with Lavande. Lavande was the ninth bastman dismissed but not before he completed his century in 137 balls.

On Friday, openers Karan Shah (76) and Suved Parkar (55) had put on a 132-run
opening stand.
