Twitter praises Shreyas Iyer, bashes Rishabh Pant
Mumbai: On Sunday, India registered their first victory in the three-match ODI series as Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Bhuvneshwar Kumar played crucial role in India’s victory in a rain-affected match. After winning the toss, Captain Kohli elected to bat first.
After losing openers Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and number four batsman Rishabh Pant, skipper Kohli and Shreyas Iyer came to the middle to rescue India from a precarious situation as the duo formed a 125-runs partnership to take India from 148/4 to a challenging 279. Virat Kohli hit his 42nd ton, while Shreyas Iyer hit a 68-ball 71. Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced an economical spell of 31/4 to guide India home.
Shreyas Iyer proved his mettle after a calm and composed innings that saw him receive lots of love from Twitter. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant once again failed to provide the goods at the top-level after getting out cheaply by playing yet another bad shot. Twitter did not fail to bash Pant for his non-spectacular innings.
Here are some tweets that gave out love to Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas Iyer displaying sheer class! He is all calm and professional. We need a pure batsmen like him at no. 4. Pant at number 5 or now.

@imVkohli you should have saved this century for the world cup captian.. a little too late.. not sure why you have not taken our star all rounder Mr Pandya. I think you should pick ravi Shastri at number 4 for the next match.. people like Shreyas Iyer were ignored for WC.. joke

Not sure how much more experiment team management will do with number 4 slot in batting order, but I think that position should go to Shreyas Iyer. Scoring 71 runs but more than that all he played a chanceless cricket. Now he needs some trust n faith from team management. #INDvWI

Rishabh Pant is the Harman Baweja of cricket! He looks to be a great prospect, but, his performance speaks otherwise! #INDvWI #RishabhPant
