Mumbai: New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is just one run away from setting a new record and cementing his name amongst New Zealand’s finest.

Williamson has not only been a great skipper but a phenomenal batsman for the kiwis this World Cup. He has single-handedly made big scores and carried the clack caps forward on tough occasions.

Now, he is tied with Mahela Jayawardene for the mantle of most scoring captain in a single world cup, having scored 548 runs. If the skipper scores even 1 run in Sunday’s clash against England in the final game of the 2019 World Cup, he will become the highest scoring captain. He will also set the record playing one innings lesser than Jayawardene.

Williamson is also one of the four captains to have ever crossed the 500 runs mark in World Cup history.

Apart from the highest run-scoring captain, Should he score 100 runs in the final, Kane will also equal former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly in becoming a skipper with the most number of centuries in a single World Cup.
