IPL fines Kohli for maintaining slow over-rate
Mohali: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli has been fined for slow over-rate in the team's Saturday match against Kings XI Punjab in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kohli has been fined 12 lakh rupees as it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's code of conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences.
RCB registered their first victory in this season of the IPL as they were able to defeat Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets at PCA Stadium in Mohali.
While chasing a target of 174, Kohli and AB de Villiers starred for the visitors as they played knocks of 67 and 59*, respectively, to take the team over the line with four balls to spare.
Earlier, Chris Gayle starred for the hosts Punjab, as he remained 99 not out to allow his side to post a total of 173 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets.
With this win, however, RCB were not able to make any change in their place in the league standings as they continue to languish at the bottom of the table.
RCB will next face Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 15.
