Ranji selectors look to discover the best talent

With the new season coming up, the MCA is planning to aim for the stars.

The Mumbai Cricket Association had appointed a new senior selection committee on May 26. India’s former all-rounder and Mumbai Cricket’s veteran Ajit Agarkar will be heading the committee as the Chairman with his former Mumbai teammates, Jatin Paranjape, Nilesh Kulkarni, and Sunil More. The board will be looking for some young talent as they set their sights on lifting the trophy in the forthcoming season.

While talking about their plans, Paranjape said, “Mumbai has always been the team that gives opportunities to the youth. We will observe the pre-season carefully and keep an eye out for promising talent. With Ajit leading the committee, we will be looking forward to finding some excellent players.”

Paranjpe was a middle-order batsman who played briefly at the international level, but he has a solid record in first-class cricket where he has scored 3964 in 96 innings with an average of 46.04 with one double-century to his name.

“I have always seen the Mumbai team as full of prospects, and I think it has translated to the current generation as well. We will wait for the objectives of the coach and choose the best talent for the team,” added Paranjape.
