ICC CWC'19: Virat Kohli becomes fastest player to score 11000 ODI runs
Mumbai: Virat Kohli has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest player to score 11,000 runs in One Day Internationals.
Kohli has achieved this milestone in 222 innings(230 matches). He has become the third Indian and ninth overall to reach the 11,000-run-mark. Sachin Tendulkar had achieved this milestone in 276 innings(284 matches).
Tendulkar is followed by former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting who reached the milestone in 286 innings (295 matches) and Sourav Ganguly in 288 innings (298 matches).
Kohli has established himself as one of the most successful players of the modern era. Since his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2008, Kohli has amassed more than 11,000 runs at an average of 59.47.
He also has 41 centuries and 51 half-centuries in his arsenal. Recently, Kohli became the first player in history to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards, following an extraordinary 2018.
