Rs 2,000 cr bets expected on India-Pak final
Mumbai: Bets to mint money have already placed on the two competing teams ahead of the face-off between cricket rivals, India and Pakistan, in the Champions Trophy finals on Sunday. According to estimates by the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF), around Rs 2,000 crore will be wagered on the match, that will start on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm.
The bets will be placed through online betting systems. The people who place these bets often bounce the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and try to misguide the cyber police, which is onto them. The rates of the final match have already been decided and India is being given first preference over Pakistan. The rates go as per '157 over '100 on India and if Pakistan wins, the rates go far more higher with Rs 300 per Rs 100.
A source told The Asian Age, “Ever since modern technology has kicked in, people have stopped using personal bookies and started placing their bets online. They also think this is a better way as it offers the leisure to sit at home and then place bets as they please and as they want.”
The outcome of the match is just one part of the betting exercise. One can also gamble on many other aspects of the game, such as 10-over score by each team or even total scores by both. Although gambling is illegal in most parts of the country, Indians can lay their bets on UK websites.
