Mumbai: After India’s ouster from the World Cup following a defeat against the New Zealand, reports of a possible rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, got circulated. But, a source in the knowhow on Thursday entirely dismissed the rumours as ‘absolute nonsense’ before India’s team selection for the West Indies tour.

Reports regarding the rift got widely spread in the media, stating there were two different camps – one is Virat Kohli’s camp and the other is Rohit Sharma’s camp. This rumour got hugely circulated after India was eliminated in the semis. The report also mentioned that a few players were unhappy with the head coach and the support staff.

As per a TOI report, an official in knowledge of the developments came out and had blown away the rumours as nonsense. The source stated, “Absolute nonsense is being pedalled, like ‘there’s a rift in the team, there’s trouble brewing’, what not. It’s really uncalled for. Which cricketer wishes away another cricketer? Only one who’s never played the game. The World Cup ended and someone wanted a new headline. It’s disappointing how some people twist and turn things to suit their interests.”

The report also mentioned that the senior members of the team got “pretty miffed” with the rumours about the two separate camps inside the team.
