Mumbai: Kane Williamson's ton steered New Zealand to victory over South Africa in a rain-reduced 49-over match of World Cup 2019. New Zealand sealed the victory with four wickets in hand and carried on their unbeaten streak in the mega-event. On the other hand, the Proteas lost their fourth match of World Cup 2019.

However, Williamson received some criticism for not ‘walking’ when he had appeared to have got a thin edge from an Imran Tahir delivery to Quinton de Kock.

Former South African spinner Paul Adam's questioned Kane Williamson's ethics after he did not walk off despite edging the ball to Quinton de Kock.

"Why didn't Kane Williamson walk?? #CWC19 #SAvsNZ," tweeted Paul Adams, along with a picture of replay showing Willimson edging the ball.

He further asked, "If Kane Williamson was Mankad after he didn't walk. Would he be upset".

New Zealand certainly had the upper hand right from the start of the match, but this incident might have been a game-changing one for the Proteas. South Africa did not request for a review, only for replays to show a nick.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis, however, downplayed the incident.

"I just thought it was a plain miss. I just heard about it now at the post-match that he said he had a nick on it. But even Kane said he didn't know he had to fine tune it. He would have referred it. But that's not where the game was won and lost," said Du Plessis.
