Pakistan pacer Hassan Ali deletes tweet after backing India to win World Cup 2019

Mumbai: Pakistan fast bowler Hassan Ali accidentally backed India to win the ICC World Cup 2019 on Twitter. Later he had to delete his words from the social media website after realising his mistake.

India beat Pakistan by 89 runs (DLS method) on Sunday at Manchester after which AajTak journalist tweeted congratulating the Men in Blue and backed them to lift the prestigious trophy.

Replying on her tweet, Pakistan fast bowler Hassan Ali said, "Hogi ap ki dua pori congratulation." Hassan later deleted the tweet.

Hassan Ali has been censured by critics for his performance in the tournament so far. He conceded 84 runs in nine overs against India, the most runs conceded by a Pakistani bowler in World Cup history.

Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and the whole Pakistan team is facing a lot of backlash after their defeat against India. Pakistan's chances of advancing into the semi-finals of the tournament look slim as they have managed to win only one of their five games.

All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez also admitted that the team had failed as a unit in the tournament.

"We failed collectively as a team. We could not produce a team effort and individual brilliance did not help us either. In cricket these days, you need team performance... inputs from everyone. We can't blame any single person, everyone is responsible for failing to deliver," Hafeez was quoted as saying by Pakistan's Geo TV
