Mumbai: Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly believes that KL Rahul will have to make the most of the chances given after failing to cement his spot in the Test side due to poor form. Ganguly also acknowledged Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey as two possible contenders for the No.4 spot of Team India.

"With Rohit and Shikhar at the top as the best possible opening pair, KL Rahul will be pushed. He has lost his place in Test cricket due to indifferent form and the likes of Shreyas and Manish Pandey will keep him on his toes if he wants to hold onto the No. 4 slot," Ganguly wrote in his column for The Times of India.

Shreyas Iyer, who was picked up over Rahul as India's No.4 during the West Indies series, showed his good form as he scored successive fifties in the second and third ODI to cement his position in the national side. The 24-year-old has also been included in the T20 squad for the South Africa series due to his impressive Windies stint.

"Shreyas Iyer finds a place in the T20 squad, a reward for his good show in the 50-overs games in West Indies," Ganguly added.

Ganguly further stated that South Africa are currently going through a rebuilding phase.

"South Africa are in a rebuilding phase. They need to look at the system back home. Not very long ago, they boasted of having enormous talent, but like many teams, they have dropped a few levels down."
