I'll quit when it's right time: Yuvraj Singh
Mumbai: Crowd favourite Yuvraj Singh sizzled on Mumbai Indians debut with a 35-ball 53 against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. He has been out of favour in the Indian team since 2017.
The 37-year-old Yuvraj said he would continue playing cricket until he enjoys it.
“It was nice to get some runs, it will look more good if I could win games for the team. In the last two years, I have been up and down. I started playing cricket because I enjoyed the game and then I was not playing for India. It was U-14, U-16, so till the time I enjoy, I will play. When the time comes, I will be first to hang my boots,” he said.
Yuvraj revealed talking to Sachin Tendulkar eased his nerves. “I spoke to Sachin as well and he has gone through such a time at 38-39 (age). Talking to him makes things easier for me,” he added.
The left-handed batsman who has been instrumental in winning 2011 ICC World Cup for India praised Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who slammed 78 in 27 balls to set up an easy win over MI . The attractive batsman who has batted at No 4 for the latter part of his career reserved his comments on whether Pant can fill the vacant No 4 spot in the Indian ODI team for the ICC World Cup in England.
“I think there have been guys batting at No 4. I can’t really say about selection but Rishabh was outstanding. He had an outstanding season last year as well. He is playing well in Test matches as well. It is important that we groom him,” Yuvraj said.
