Matt Prior takes a dig at Nathan Lyon, gets blasted by Shane Warne; see tweets
Mumbai: Ex-Australia spinner Shane Warne blasted former England batsman Matt Prior for mocking Nathan Lyon after England levelled the Ashes Test series 1-1 at Headingley.
Australia would have retained the urn had Nathan Lyon not fumbled the return throw. But, ultimately at the end, Nathan Lyon would be blaming himself for the blooper. Australia required one wicket to win while Jack Leach and Ben Stokes were trying to save England from another defeat. After Stokes played a reverse-sweep shot, Jack Leach ran straight towards the 28-year-old all-rounder.
After the England spinner ran half-way down the track, Ben Stokes asked him to return to the non-striker’s crease, but he Leach was a mile away from the crease when the return throw came, all Lyon had to do was pick the ball with his hands and hit the stumps.
However, when the throw came, Lyon fumbled and let the arch-rivals get away. In the next ball, Stokes was plumb leg before the wicket but Australia had no reviews left as they wasted all their reviews.
Prior, the former England wicket-keeper took a dig at the Australia spinner, after the latter criticised the former before the 2017-18 Ashes. However, as soon as Prior took a jibe at Lyon, Australia’s legendary Warner took him by surprise after the former Aussie leg spinner defended his country’s player in a series of tweets.

Along with Prior, English club cricketer Chris Adams also joined Matt and started blasting the Australian media for not accepting the defeat gracefully.
Wow! They’re good at giving it but not that great at taking it! 🤣 Hope everyone is having a great day in the sun ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

Excuse me? Just because Lyon knocked you over for fun, there’s still no need for that kind of silly and immature behaviour. Grow up, and enough of those stupid comments. Let’s celebrate the wonderful game of test cricket & the Ashes please ! https://t.co/lxaLjISJzY

We should all be celebrating test cricket & @benstokes38 plus the ashes. It’s ridiculous these cheap shots, just unnecessary ! I’m all for banter & fun. I gave it & took it. But this is just ridiculous & childish from @MattPrior13 & the club cricketer Adams - spare me & enough !

Chris, you were nothing but a club cricketer ! So don’t even bore us with your dribble as no one is interested or cares in what you have to say ! Pipe down..... https://t.co/eVKUeGqcuu
