Vijay Shankar to be replaced? Twitterati troll all-rounder for poor batting display
Mumbai: Vijay Shankar has failed to perform at the number four spot for the second consecutive time in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. Against West Indies, the all-round failed to impress with the bat as he got out off Kemar Roach's delivery after scoring 14 runs.
In the match against Afghanistan, Shankar was dismissed on 29 while batting at number four. Prior to that, he was managed to amass 15 runs against Pakistan while batting at number six.
Shankar has received flak from both fans and critics due to his inability to play huge knocks in the mega-event.
Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar stated his opinion on Twitter that Shankar might get to play one more game to prove himself.
"As for brass tacks - India can be happy about the win but must look to address the batting issues starting with putting pressure on KL Rahul to get the big one once he gets a start and I guess, one more game for Vijay Shankar," Manjrekar tweeted.

The 28-year-old medium-pacer wasn't either used for bowling by captain Virat Kohli in India's last two matches.
Hence, many fans argued about his inclusion in the starting squad over Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. The sword of exclusion is looming on Shankar's ahead if he fails to perform in India's upcoming encounter against England. India and England are set to clash on June 30 at Edgbaston.
For fans, Shankar's cheap dismissal inspired a meme fest on Twitter. Here are some tweets:
