ISL 4: Delhi aim to sign off with hat-trick'
New Delhi: Delhi Dynamos will look to bow out of Indian Super League 4 with a win at home over FC Pune City here on Friday.
Dynamos are eighth in the standings with 18 points from 17 matches, winning only five of them.
But they are unbeaten in their last five games and two on the trot — against ATK and Mumbai City — at home and will look to sign off with a hat-trick of home wins.
Pune, with 29 points from 17 matches, have already entered the play-offs.
“The mood in the team is very good after the wins. We need to play again to win,” Delhi coach Miguel Angel Portugal said on Thursday.
In the reverse fixture between the two teams, which was Delhi’s first game of the season, Portugal’s men prevailed 3-2.
While Pune have already made it to the play-offs, their 0-4 loss to FC Goa in their last game left their coach Ranko Popovic frustrated.
He wants his team to win before the big games begin.
“We have to show last game was just an accident. The problem is not when you lose, the problem is when you show no desire to win and that’s what happened to us in the last game,” he said.
Popovic was critical of his player’s performance in their last match, observing his players relaxed too much against Goa.
“I had told my players when you are playing well, you may just relax in a match and it will cost you. They didn’t feel that and now they do after the Goa defeat,” he added.
Pune will be without top scorer Marcelinho due to suspension.
Delhi will have to do without midfielder Vineet Rai.
