Mumbai prove two good for listless Pune

The second came when Soudou was brought down by defender Fanai inside the box. Striker Bastos sent Vishal the wrong way from the spot.

Mumbai: Mumbai City FC cruised to 2-0 win over FC Pune City in their Indian Super League Maharashtra derby clash at Mumbai Football Arena here on Friday. Senegalese midfielder Modou Sougou opened the account and Brazilian striker Rafael Bastos was spot on as the Islanders registered first win of the season.

Pune started with sole striker Emiliano Alfaro with Marcelo Pereira on the bench. Alfaro had an early chance with a header on Lalchhuanmawia Fanai cross but it was just off target. Arnold Issoko almost came up with a near perfect bicycle kick on Paulo Machado free-kick to set the tone for fans who celebrated the first goal of the season at home in the 25th minute. Machado curling left footer from flank found the woodwork and Sougou capitalised on the rebound.
