The Walmiki brothers, Yuvraj, Devendra and Anup, threw their weight around and their collective efforts produced a total of 10 goals, which powered U.K. United to a thumping 15-0 victory against a hapless Savio Sports Club, Andheri in a first round match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana 37th Victor D’Mello Memorial Trophy Rink Hockey Tournament - 2018, conducted under the auspices of the MHAL, and played at the Gymkhana's floodlit tennis courts on Tuesday night.
Former Indian forward Yuvraj Walmiki spearheaded the scoring spree with a double hat-trick while Olympian Devendra and Anup both contributed with two goals each. Walmiki's teammates Nilkanata and Vishal Lal also scored a brace of goals each and Amit Gowda scored one to complete the rout.
In another match, Bombay Republicans also enjoyed an easy outing as they blanked Jablonski SC by a convincing 8-0 margin. Nikhil Pardeshi, Kushal Meghwal, Vineet Shetty and Venkatesh Devkar all chipped in with two goals each towards their victory.
In the third match of the evening, Companeroes also had a sucessful first round defeating Revengers SC 5-1. Oristan D'Souza notched up a fine hat-trick while Jess Kinny and Melchor Fernandes added one each for the victors while Digvijay Shinde reduced the margin of defeat.
