Deepak Punia enters finals of the World Wrestling Championship

Mumbai: Reigning junior world champion, Deepak Punia, won the semi-final bout of the World Wrestling Championships against Switzerland's Stefan Reichmuth 8-2 to enter the finals and have a shot at the gold medal in the 86kg category. Punia will now face the formidable Hassan Yazdani of Iran in finals of the WWC on Sunday.
Earlier, Deepak prevailed in a tense semifinal against Colombia's Carlos Arturo Mendez and with that win became the fourth Indian to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
On the other hand, Rahul Aware lost to Georgia's Lomtadze in the 61kg category semi-finals. He will compete for the bronze medal on Sunday.
Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Ravi Dahiya have already qualified for next year's Tokyo Olympics.
