The upcoming Halo 5: Guardians looks set to be a massive hit

With the Halo 5: Guardians launch just six days away Microsoft and 343 industries have released information about the upcoming Xbox One exclusive that should get you excited for the game.

The game itself will require a whopping 55 GB space on your Xbox One including a mandatory Day One update of 9 GB that is said to contain multiplayer content. Gamers who pre-order the game digitally can preload the game and the update, while physical disc owners must first install 46 GB from the disc and then proceed to download the 9gb update.

They also recently revealed a new Clan System for Halo titled Spartan Companies. It’s basically a way to play and work in game with friends as each Spartan Community can support up to 100 players and will get access to private forums via Halo Waypoint. Unfortunately, players will be restricted to one Spartan Company per profile, 343 have incentivised it by offering 1 bonus Req Pack to players that join a Spartan Company with 4 or more members. I see this being a very useful tool for players looking for high level competitive play.

Microsoft also announced that they will be focussing on ensuring the best possible multiplayer experience by curbing negative online behaviour; 343 Industries will be monitoring players for team killing, betrayals and more, with frequent offenders inviting bans.

Players will also have a Competitive Skill Ranking (CSR) which they will receive after 10 placement matches to help make matchmaking more balanced. The only way to increase your CSR is by winning matches. Halo 5 multiplayer will also have monthly seasons, urging players to reach the highest CSR possible in specific playlists that reset every month.

All in all, Halo 5 multiplayer looks like it might just help the franchise reclaim some of its past multiplayer glory from the days of Halo3 and Halo 3.
