A car and a game
Microsoft revealed Forza Motorsport 6 in a rather bizarre fashion!
The game’s announcement was done side-by-side with the launch of the brand new Ford GT which is also set to be the cover star of Forza Motorsport 6.
Raj Nair, Ford VP, Global Product Development said, “The Ford GT is the ultimate execution of an enthusiast supercar — delivering ultra-efficient ecoBoost performance, driver-centric technology and lightweight carbon fibre construction. Working with Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios allows us to share our all-new GT supercar with an unprecedented global audience — giving fans an opportunity to virtually experience the beauty, thrill and innovation of Ford’s performance lineup.” But it just goes on to show how important the so-called “underrated” racing games have become in showcasing hottest new cars, and at the end of the day having exclusive new cars helps sell the game.
The previous version of the franchise also featured some heavy branding with Forza Horizon 2 showcasing the Lamborghini Huracan and Forza Motorsport 5 showcasing the Mclaren P1.
The game engine’s reproduction of the Ford GT was absolutely stunning but rendering a single object on screen and what you get while racing are two completely different things. But, if Forza 5 visuals are anything to go by, then fans won’t be disappointed. There is still room for improvement though. A lot of aspects like the soundtrack and real-world track selection leave a lot to be desired. Now that Microsoft is opening up the Xbox One a little more for developers, to be able get a little more juice out of the GPU, we can expect something that looks and plays even better which would be saying something.
Forza Motorsport 6 has been announced as an Xbox One exclusive and should be available late 2015. However, there is no official date mentioned, yet.
