FNAF spin flops, taken off Steam with a sorry
The game, despite releasing a month ahead of schedule, did not make players very happy
The Five Nights at Freddy’s spin off RPG has been pulled off steam mere days after its launch.
Scott Cawthorn, creator of the game recently launched the spin off RPG Five Nights at Freddy’s World — which surprisingly launched almost a month ahead of its scheduled launched. Unfortunately, the game received mixed responses on launch, which was followed by an official apology by the developer. However, players were still not happy due to key features being omitted from the final launch leading to a slightly broken game and despite a positive overall rating on Steam Scott decided to take the game down, offering full refunds to anyone who purchased the game regardless of how long they played it — as Steam puts a two-hour limit on playtime for eligible refunds. The game is now set to launch on Gameloft after some polish and finishing touches at which point it will be available as a free game.
While the honesty and acceptance of his mistake is great, the fact still remains that the game was nowhere near ready for launch. Thankfully Steam’s recently-added refund policy helps safeguard users when it comes to buying slightly risky titles or those of newer devs. That being said, even games from the biggest publishers aren’t always a safe bet. Batman Arkham Knight’s PC debacle is well documented to say the least. Regardless, it’s good to see developers owning up to their mistakes and doing right by gamers.
