Your Apple Watch should soon be able to track your sleep

Your Apple Watch should soon be able to track sleeping patterns, behaviours and times with a new feature.

Your Apple Watch should soon be able to track sleeping patterns, behaviours and times with an upcoming feature, according to the news portal 9to5Mac. Sources inside the company who spoke to the portal said that the new capability will be called ‘Time in Bed tracking’.

Using the feature users shall then be able to map their sleeping movements, noises, and heart-rate through the Watch’s various sensors and monitors. It shall also help them set alarms for themselves, that would automatically get disabled should it detect the wearer to be awake before the scheduled time.

The data about sleep patterns shall be made available for the users through the device’s Health app and Sleep app.

Apart from the ability to track sleep, Apple has also included some convenient features for users to take full advantage of the tracking. Solving the issue of Apple Watches running out of juice while being worn at night, the device shall now remind users about charging it before their bedtime. The new bedtime system will also enable Do Not Disturb automatically, when the user goes to bed.

While these details have been discovered, it is not clear whether new hardware i.e the new Apple Watch will have this feature or not. It might even be an over-the-air update.
