Apple working on a circular smartwatch?
The existing Apple smartwatches come in a square design. The Cupertino tech giant feels that there is not much function that a circular design can offer to its consumers for the time being. “When a huge part of the function is lists, a circle just doesn’t make sense,” Apple Design Chief Jony Ive had said to The New Yorker last year. However, it seems like things are about to change as far as that statement is concerned.
Apple’s latest patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) titled ‘Electronic device having display with curved edges,’ suggests that the company might be exploring the possibility of a round watch. While the company had filed the patent way back in 2015, the former was only approved of recently.
If rumours are believed to be true, Apple is likely to compete with other major companies like Samsung, Huawei and Motorola with similar circular design smartwatches in the coming year.
