Xiaomi announce Mi AirDots Youth Edition, the Apple AirPods competitor

These true wireless earbuds come with 7.2mm drivers and cost about Rs 2,100.

Ever since Apple launched the AirPods back in 2016, virtually every other brand is unveiling their own pair of truly wireless earphones with the aim of disrupting the market. A major crippling problem with other brands’ efforts has been the somewhat steep price tag. Xiaomi, a brand that has continuously launched products in practically all tech categories have come up with their own true wireless earphones — the Mi AirDots Youth Edition and have priced it extremely competitively at CNY 200 which roughly translates to about Rs 2,100.

The Mi AirDots Youth Edition is already up for pre-order in China and sales of the products will commence on November 11. These earbuds come with a 7.2mm driver and are lightweight as well weighing a mere 4.2g. Also, there’s a touch sensitive area on the sides which allows you to control the music player, answer calls, and even to activate the digital voice assistant.

The Mi AirDots come with Bluetooth v5.0 and it has an impressive battery life of 4 hours. If used as a standalone unit and not as a pair, the battery of a single earbud lasts for 5 hours. The charging case has a battery span of 12 hours on a single charge.

As of now, the Xiaomi Mi AirDots are available only in China and no information is available as to when it will be available globally.
