Nikon Coolpix P1000 launched with 16MP sensor
Nikon announced the Coolpix P1000 in India on July 10. The digital camera comes with 125x optical zoom and enhanced operability for the user’s convenience. The lens is claimed to cover a good range of focal length beginning at the wide-angle 24mm1 equivalent and extending to the super-telephoto 3000mm1 equivalent (up to 250×2 zoom is possible when Dynamic Fine Zoom is enabled).
It is equipped with the EXPEED image-processing engine and dual detect optical VR to provide a good level of vibration reduction. The Coolpix P1000 incorporates 2359k-dot OLED electronic viewfinder, control ring to manually adjust focus and change white balance setting, and a focus mode selector that enables a user to change the focus mode while gripping the camera. The camera further supports recording of 4K UHD/30p and Superlapse movies.
As per Nikon, it processes two types of camera-shake information detected from the angular velocity sensor and the image itself for precise camera-shake compensation. The effects of camera shake are effectively suppressed even with hand-held shooting.
Nikon also stated about the deep grip of the camera to ensure a firmer and steady hold and it comes with focus mode selector that can be used to change the focus mode after focus has been acquired.
The Coolpix P100 comes equipped with an accessory terminal and an accessory shoe that supports a variety of accessories, including external Speedlights. Among the optional accessories available for the P1000 is a new Bluetooth remote control (ML-L7) that, as Nikon claims, can be used to eliminate the camera shake that is often a concern with the telephoto shooting.
