This phone case adds a second screen to your smartphone
Ever wanted to have the ability to have a second screen to amplify your multitasking abilities, without having to carry the bulk, fragility and mighty price tags of modern foldable or dual-screen phones like the Galaxy Fold or the LG G8X ThinQ? Well, the good news is, you finally have an alternative.
Meet castaway, a phone case with a second-screen built in it. The second screen is actually a small tablet running ChromeOS that can either function on its own or connect to your smartphone placed in the case. The two devices can be used independently or connected using the MultiTask+ app which integrates the second screen into your phone’s, over an encrypted Wi-Fi network.
When you’re not using the second screen, the case can be disconnected, and both the phone and the tablet will function separately. The case will be available in two variants with either a 6.3-inch screen or a smaller 5.8-inch screen.
The specifications of the tablet include an OP1 CPU, with Hexa-core Dual ARM® Cortex®-A72, Quad Cortex®-A53, that is clocked at 1.5 GHz (up to 2.0 GHz), 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, a Mali T864 GPU and 32GB eMMC storage.
For communications, the device is equipped with support for dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. It even has its own 5MP rear and 2MP front camera. The castAway is also equipped with a stereo speaker setup. It runs on a 35WHr battery, that charges through a C-type connector. You even get a stylus with the case.
The castAway is available in a standard black colour with either Chrome or Black Leather upgrade options. See if you can grab one for your smartphone here.
