Read this before you pre-order the Apple Watch Series 4 in India
At the iPhone event held in September, one product that arguably stole the show was the new Apple Watch Series 4. This version is said to redesigned and re-engineered and reviewers can’t get enough of it and some claim that this is the best smartwatch to have ever been made.
The new Series 4 Watch comes with the largest screen ever on an Apple Watch and Apple has even managed to reduce its width, making it thinner than the Apple Watch Series 3. The Series 4, apart from coming preinstalled with Watch OS 5 also features an electrical heart rate sensor for electrocardiogram (ECG) that can be used with the new ECG app that will be made available before the end of this year.
The Apple Watch Series 4 has already been made available for pre-order in India and will go on sale on Friday, 19 October 2019.
The Apple Watch Series 4 Aluminium GPS only version is priced at Rs 40,900 for the 40mm version while the 44mm Aluminium GPS variant starts at Rs 43,900. The GPS + Cellular 40mm variant start at Rs 49,900 while the 44mm GPS + Cellular version is available for Rs 42,900.
The Stainless Steel version starts at Rs 67,900 for the 40mm model while the larger 44mm version is priced in India at Rs 71,900. Both the aforementioned models come with Sports Bands and feature GPS + Cellular connectivity. For those of you who are interested in the Stainless Steel model with the Milanese loop band, these models will set you back by Rs 76,900 and Rs 80,900 for the 40mm and 44mm models respectively.
The Series 4 is powered by Apple’s next-generation S4 chip with a custom 64-bit dual-core processor, which Apple claims can deliver twice the speed while maintaining the same all-day battery life.
The Series 4 get a new and larger display with thinner bezels. The back is composed of black ceramic and sapphire crystal, which Apple says can help with connectivity. The Digital Crown now includes haptic feedback, offering a more mechanical and responsive feel.
The biggest highlight, however, is that users can now take an ECG reading right from the wrist using the new ECG app, which takes advantage of the electrodes built into the Digital Crown and new electrical heart rate sensor in the back.
Fall detection utilises a next-generation accelerometer and gyroscope, which measures up to 32 g-forces, along with custom algorithms to identify when hard falls occur. By analysing wrist trajectory and impact acceleration, Apple Watch sends the user an alert after a fall, which can be dismissed or used to initiate a call to emergency services.
Lastly, the Series 4 comes in a gold stainless steel with matching Milanese band, joining the silver and space black stainless steel models. The Watch Nike+ collection features redesigned Nike watch faces that match the new band colours, including a Pure Platinum/Black Sports Band and a Summit White Sports Loop with reflective yarn.
