Forget Apple AirPods; these 'Buds' get the excellent rating
Are you in the market for a great pair of true wireless earphones? Are the Apple AirPods swaying you their way? Then we kindly request you to read this bit of information ahead of purchasing them.
As per a recent Consumer Report’s study of the current smartphone accessory market has found that Samsung’s Galaxy Buds have been selected for its “excellent” rating for sound quality by a wireless device. On the other hand, Apple should be licking its wounds as its flagship AirPods lay in a low 49th position in the same chart.
As per a report by Business Korea, “The Galaxy Buds were ranked first with 86 points, while AirPods, which are used by about 60 per cent of wireless earphone users, came in 49th with 56 points.
Consumer Reports ranked the wireless earphones based on an evaluation of their sound quality and designs.
In terms of sound quality, only the Galaxy Buds received the “Excellent” grade. Consumer Reports said that the Galaxy Buds were one of the first portable Bluetooth earphones to achieve the highest sound quality grade.”
As you can see the first part of the aforementioned quote pertains to the sound quality and since the Galaxy Buds fill the outer part of the ear, this should come as no surprise to anyone who has experienced them. The AirPods, on the other hand, features a stem that sticks downwards and does not feature the closure that’s necessary for optimal performance.
The power was another highlighted feature of the report. The Galaxy Buds are known for their exceptional battery life as they can provide six hours of continuous audio playback. Additionally, the charging case comes with wireless charging as a standard accessory and you don’t need to purchase a separate charging case or pay a bit more cash like Apple does with their option.
Lastly, the price has a telling point as well. Samsung has priced its Galaxy Buds extremely attractively and you can get them for as low as Rs 19,990. The AirPods, on the other hand, is a lot more expensive with the base variant of the second-generation AirPods costing Rs 14,990.
Forbes writes, “The report also acknowledges that Apple is the market leader here with sixty per cent of the wireless earbuds market. As with most Apple products, you don’t have full feature parity, and what you do you have is more expensive than the competition.”
