Acer launches Triton 700 and Helios 300 slim gaming notebooks

Acer unveiled a slew of gaming machines and ultra portables from its revamped portfolio at Next@Acer event in New York

Do you remember the Acer Predator 21x launched a few months ago? The gaming laptop kicked out its rivals by picking the best of components to deliver the best of gaming. One major chink in its armour is its dimensions – it is gigantic, making a standard PS4 console to shame in the size department. However, Acer understood the problem and has attempted to pack in most of that computing power in a slim and lightweight body. Meet the Triton 700 and the Helios 300 series of gaming laptops.

Both these portable powerhouses were unveiled at the Next@Acer event held in New York recently. The Triton 700 is the top end model and packs in a lot of exotic gaming hardware that is bound to get gamers drooling over this machine – the choice of the latest generation NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10 series graphics card, the latest Intel 7th generation processors and up to 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM and two NVMe PCIe SSDs in RAID 0 configuration.

Now, that amount of gaming power can boil the aluminum chassis, which is why Acer has put in its own unique cooling system to keep the temperatures down. They are so proud of their AeroBlade 3D “metal blade” Fan system that they have put a transparent Gorilla Glass mousepad over it in the Triton 700 series laptops.

The Helios 300 series is the option available for gamers on a budget. Dubbed as a “gaming notebook”, the laptop will provide a choice of NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti or GTX 1060 graphics cards, 7th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, a speedy SATA SSD and a 1TB HDD. An access compartment door on the bottom of the notebooks makes it easy to upgrade memory and storage components.

The Predator Helios 300 gaming notebooks with a 15.6-inch display will be starting at $1,299 (Rs 88,340) whereas the top-spec Predator Triton 700 gaming notebook will cost your pockets $2,999 (Rs 2,03,900). The machines are pricey but you can expect an enormous visual treat from these portable gaming beasts.

Acer partnered with Microsoft to deliver the world’s first Windows Mixed Reality development kits in March, helping developers learn the potential of the Windows Mixed Reality platform. Developers are already hard at work to further enrich the experience when Acer’s Windows Mixed Reality headsets for consumers and commercial customers ship later this year.

Acer also unveiled two new projectors that feature 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) resolution, HDR- and Rec. 2020-compatibility and AcuMotion technology.
