Apple iPhone sales increase in India amidst global decline in numbers
Tim Cook recently announced that Apple’s iPhones generated USD 26 billion revenue in the company’s third quarter. The figure is 12 per cent lower than last year’s June quarter. Meanwhile the sales in India went up by 19 per cent in shipments. The sales were enhanced by many promotional offers and discounts from the US based company.
"We are encouraged by the results we are seeing from the initiatives that we spoke about in January including strong customer response to our in-store trade-in and financing programmes,' said Cook on Tuesday after an earnings call.
"Our active installed base of iPhone reached a new all-time high and was up year-over-year in each of our top 20 markets, underscoring the quality of our products and the satisfaction and loyalty of iPhone customers around the world," the Apple CEO informed.
As suggested by Counterpoint, Apple iPhone sales have declined globally but the numbers in India are improving. The research also mentioned that nearly half of the sales of the quarter was of the iPhone XR, in strikingly similar fashion to last year when the quarter’s growth was driven by the iPhone 6 series, which made up 2/5th of the sales.
Apple had announced price cuts for the XR in India and China, which largely helped with the sale numbers.
