OpTic Gaming announces Indian CS GO Squad

The launch marks the first major international interest in Indian Esports.

There is no doubt that the Indian Esports space is one of the most chaotic and exciting ones in the world right now. With no clear dominant organisation or stability so to speak of, it was only a matter of time before a big name stepped into the game.

International Organisation, OpTic Gaming has announced a brand new all Indian Counter Strike Global Offensive roster for which they have partnered with AFK Gaming and Indian CS GO platform Sostronk.

They will be hosting try-outs via Sostronk starting May 7, which will include an extensive theoretical and practical evaluation along with match skills observations by OpTic Gaming Scouts and Sostronk Coaching Team. The final try-outs will happen on May 12 and 13 in Bengaluru at the famous Gaming Café, LXG.

“We are very excited to be working alongside the excellent teams at AFK Gaming and Sostronk for our expansion into India. At OpTic Gaming, we are passionate about growing and supporting exciting new regions, so India was a natural next step due to the support of so many Indian fans in both India and around the globe,” Nick “ashes” Ridgeway, Head of Player Support, OpTic Gaming

This marks the first major international interest in Indian Esports. While teams around Asia do participate in major events in India, this is the first time an organisation is looking to invest in a full-time team with not just competitive salaries but also access to their entire organisation with its coaches, analysts and facilities.

OpTic India, as the squad will be known might just be the first sign of the floodgates opening, but the real question is Indian Esports ready for the global stage? Will our player base mature or will it once again be marred by immature and unprofessional players.
