Does Stranger Things tie-in have anything to do with Windows 1.0 return?
Microsoft is definitely up to something. Out of absolutely nowhere, the team over at Windows showed off a strange video on its official Twitter account that announced the ‘all-new’ Windows 1.0. Shortly thereafter, it posted the same video on its Instagram channel. This strange post was added after it had wiped out each and every one of its previous posts on the photo/video sharing app.
The video is pretty nostalgic as it winds back time by showcasing the entire history of Windows logos before eventually stopping on the Windows 1.0 logo that’s used as its branding on all social media platforms.
The tweet is rather baffling as Microsoft states, “Introducing the all-new Windows 1.0, with MS-Dos Executive, Clock, and more!!”

With Excel, Chart, and even Flight Simulator, there’s no telling where Microsoft and the power of Windows will take you this summer. pic.twitter.com/sEHLuXysXn

So what exactly is going on here? The team over at Windows has been rather vague in its response to followers and telling them to “Stay tuned” and “Wait for updates.”
Windows 1.0 was released way back in 1985 and there are rumours that there is a tie-in with the hit TV series Stranger Things. The third instalment of the series will begin on July 4, 2019 and this year, the show has collaborated with big names across all platforms.
While Windows may be the biggest tech collaboration, it has also partnered with Nike and launched a special limited edition clothing and sneaker line. It has also partnered with Levi’s who have announced a Stranger Things clothing line.
