Microsoft delays the launch of this feature in Windows 10 update
Microsoft has delayed what reports describe as the biggest new software feature, scheduled to arrive with the company’s Windows 10 update. The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update — which is scheduled to launch later this summer — will not be shipped with the heavily-speculated ‘Timeline’ feature.
For those of you who don’t know what the ‘Timeline’ feature is, it’s an update that will allow Windows 10 users to seamlessly switch between devices including PCs, tablets, Android and iOS smartphones. It is quite similar to the feature that Apple launched for its iOS and macOS operating systems, wherein users could start a document on one machine and resume it almost immediately from another device. It’s still unclear as to why the ‘Timeline’ feature has been delayed by Microsoft. “Timeline won't be in the Fall Creators Update,” confirmed Microsoft Executive Joe Belfiore to The Verge. “We're planning for it to be in early insider builds shortly after Fall Creators Update is out,” he added.
Microsoft is expected to introduce the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update sometime in September. Moreover, this isn’t the first time that Microsoft has decided to ditch an expected feature from its upcoming update. In the past, the Redmond tech-giant delayed the launch of ‘People’ feature, scheduled to arrive in the Creators Update that was unveiled earlier this year.
