Jio Phone 2 for 2,999 launched with QWERTY Keypad

The Jio Phone 2 runs on KAI OS and features a 2.4-inch QVGA display and supports dual-SIM slots (Nano).

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) at its 41st Annual General Meeting unveiled its latest feature phone named, JioPhone 2. It is an update to the model the company launched last year. Furthermore, Jio has also asserted that both the original Jio Phone and the latest model will support apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube starting August 15.

The successor to the original JioPhone offers a QWERTY keypad with a dedicated button for the voice assistant. In addition, the device supports 24 Indian languages and voice commands. It also has a four-way navigation key and a dedicated button for voice command. The Jio Phone 2 runs on KAI OS and features a 2.4-inch QVGA display and supports dual-SIM slots (Nano). The latest model has a 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, which is expandable up to 128GB.

In terms of photography, the phone sports a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front camera sensor. The phone is backed by a 2000mAh. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, VoLTE, VoWiFi, NFC, GPS, and FM radio.

The JioPhone 2 retails at a price of Rs 2,999 starting August 15 and the original JioPhone was launched back in July 2017 at an effective price of 'Zero.'
