Future Apple Macs will change volume based on your distance from itself

Leaked Apple patent shows new sensor on desktop PC that will adjust volume according to the user's distance from the computer.

Apple is busy preparing for September 12 to unveil the next iPhone. However, the boffins that are not related to their smartphone department are working on ways to make their PC offering relevant in the upcoming times. Softpedia in one of its report describes an Apple patent that will make the Mac a bit smarter.

Apple is working on making the audio management on the Mac desktop smart. They are working on a sensor that will adjust the volume according to the user’s distance from the computer. Therefore, if you get away from your computer while playing music, the Mac will automatically increase the volume and decrease it accordingly when you come back to your desk.

Apple describes in their patent application that this feature could make video calling a lot easier on desktop computers with one or more people. The Mac will make it possible for the user to select a specific person and enhance the audio connection. This basically reduces video call issues when the audio connection of one particular user is impacted by various factors, such as reduced volume due to the distance from the computer.

Apple says that the computer includes a processor in communication with the sensor and configured to process the user location and the environment data and adjust at least one of an audio output or a video output. The output device is in communication with the processor and is configured to output at least one of the audio output or the video output.

It is still now known whether this feature will make a place for itself in the next version of the Mac. However, we now know that the computers of the future will become smarter and will make using the computer as a product more easier.
