Steam declares Windows 7 as a preferred choice of gamers after Windows 10
Windows 7 is one of the greatest operating systems from Microsoft, striking the right chord between performance and aesthetics an OS has to obtain. This is the reason why people have stayed on Windows 7, despite Microsoft offering Windows 10 as a free upgrade. It also seems that Windows 7 is the preferred choice of the PC gaming community as well.
According to a research by Steam, Windows 7 64-bit comes second in the list of most number of operating systems that run Steam’s gaming platform. It has in fact registered an increase in users of 2.10 percent, which is much higher than the leading Windows 10 64-bit with 0.44 percent growth.
The 32-bit Windows 10, Windows 8.1 64-bit, Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 32-bit are some of the OS versions that are amongst the list of declining OS versions. Apple’s macOS 10 12.6 64-bit also gained 0.91 percent gamers.
Microsoft has been trying multiple ways to push old Windows users to the latest version of their operating system by including user specific features in Windows 10, which Microsoft terms as a service, not a product. The Windows 10 Creators Update added a game mode to help gamers extract a bit more performance. Despite all of Windows 10's novel features, Windows 7 wins hearts of gamers with its simplicity and a focus on performance.
