Donald Trump-inspired app especially for women
BETC Sao Paulo has created ‘Women Interrupted,’ an app that listens to conversations & tracks how often women are interrupted by men.
More times than often, women are often interrupted by men. Be it at the office, over dinner or in the classroom. We don’t happen to notice it, but ‘manterruptions’ are real. Now there is a tool that could help women detect how many times in a conversation have they been interrupted by men.
Ad agency BETC Sao Paulo launched a new app called ‘Woman Interrupted’ on March 6 that tracks how many times men interrupt women in daily conversations. The app, which is available for both Android as well as iOS, essentially listens to conversations and tracks the interruptions.
Users are required to record their voice, thereby allowing the app to understand who the subject is. The app runs in the background, using the microphone to analyse conversations and identify interruptions in real time.
The inspiration of the app reportedly came from US presidential debate that took place in September wherein Hillary Clinton was interrupted by Donald Trump almost 51 times.
“We, women struggle every day to get our space in the workplace and the right to express ourselves. When we get there, Manterrupting reduces our participation,” CEO of BETC Sao Paulo, Gal Barradas said in a statement.
