Facebook-owned WhatsApp is the most popular messaging platform the world over. In a bid to make it easier for users to enjoy the service, the developers keep on launching new features that have quite beneficial values. After successfully introducing Touch ID/Face ID for iOS users and a shortcut for group voice or video calls with a single tap, the messaging service is currently testing two new features that users will highly appreciate.

The latest features are in the beta phase so, in order to try them out ahead of its official release, you can enrol as a beta tester. As per a report by Live Mint, WhatsApp is testing two exciting new features that are currently being tested that should be made available for the public in the next few days.

Hide Muted Status: There is a new functionality that’s being tested that allows users to hide the status of certain people in your contact list. When released, users will see a ‘Hide’ option above the Muted Status Update section. If you wish to revoke the unmute option, then you can easily do that by once again going to the ‘Hind’ option to restore the previous setting and will ‘Show’ the status.

Frequently Forwarded: When WhatsApp rolls out this feature, you can see how many times a particular message has been forwarded. This particular bit of information will be available just for sent messages and not received messages. Users can view this by heading over to Message Info only for messages they sent. The report states that a message will be marked as ‘Frequently Forwarded’ only when it has been forwarded over four times. As of now, WhatsApp has limited the forwards to just five in India.

Dark Mode: Like practically every other developer out there, WhatsApp is also working on a Dark Mode. This preparation has been going on for quite a few months and this feature has been noticed in a few menus such as Chats list, Calls, Contact Profiles, Group Settings and Statuses. WhatsApp is also believed to be working on dark mode across the app as well as the sharing of statuses from Whatsapp to Facebook. The report by Live Mint states, “The Night Mode doesn't make the background of the app completely black, however. It is a very dark shade of grey, which means it cannot act as a battery saving option for AMOLED screens. AMOLED displays work more efficiently when using apps with black backgrounds as the individual pixels shut down whenever they are instructed to display a black colour.”
